Lansing Brewing Company Spotlight: Lansing, Michigan

The name on the building references a brewing tradition that goes back to 1898 in Lansing. The team that re-established Lansing Brewing Company in 2013 took that history seriously and built something that honors it without being stuck in it.

Located at 518 E Shiawassee St in downtown Lansing, Lansing Brewing Company operates out of a beautifully restored 19th century warehouse that carries the kind of industrial character you cannot fake. High ceilings, exposed brick, original structural elements, and a brewing operation visible from the taproom give the space a personality that newer builds spend a lot of money trying to achieve.

The beer lineup covers a wide range of styles with particular strength in their flagship ales and seasonal offerings. The Chocolate Velvet Stout has developed a strong following among Mid-Michigan beer drinkers, and the rotating tap list keeps regulars returning to see what the brewers are working on.

The food menu is a full kitchen operation with enough range to make Lansing Brewing Company a destination for dinner as well as drinks. The outdoor patio and beer garden expand the space considerably in warmer months and become one of the most popular outdoor gathering spots in the city.
