Journeyman Distillery Spotlight: Three Oaks, Michigan

Three Oaks is a small town in the southwestern corner of Michigan, tucked into Berrien County near the Indiana border. Journeyman Distillery is the reason a growing number of people know exactly where it is.

Located at 109 Generation Dr in Three Oaks, Journeyman opened in 2011 in a beautifully restored 19th century corset factory and has built a national reputation for handcrafted spirits produced under certified organic and Kosher standards. Whiskey, gin, vodka, brandy, and a rotating lineup of seasonal releases fill the shelves of a distillery that takes both its process and its ingredients seriously.

The flagship spirits include Featherbone Bourbon Whiskey, Three Oaks Single Malt, and Silver Cross White Whiskey, each made from grain sourced within a short distance of the distillery when possible. The organic certification is not a marketing claim; it runs through the entire production process.

The venue itself is remarkable. The renovated factory is a stunning space with exposed brick, original woodwork, a full restaurant, and event spaces that host weddings, private gatherings, and public events throughout the year. The restaurant serves food sourced locally and built to pair with the spirits being made a few yards away.
