Hidden Gems Institute Spotlight: Flint, Michigan

HBCU-Inspired, Community-Driven

Kasey’s original vision was to bring instrumental music back to the Flint community through an HBCU-inspired marching band. From that starting point, Hidden Gems grew into a full creative arts organization dedicated to developing talent that might otherwise go undiscovered. The HBCU marching tradition is one of the most demanding and disciplined art forms in American music, and Kasey brought that standard to Flint’s youth.
